First introduced
to the hobby from this fishroom around 2005, this new Albino
alvarezi is much richer in color, prolific and hardier than the
original line.
Emphasizing the brightest reds, yellows and blues of the
original wild fish,
a tank of these is a stunning sight. These have also proven
to breed consistently,
without the problems associated with many mutation lines-
such as fish that
get large but do not reproduce.
Cared for just as the regular Xiphophorus alvarezi, they will
do best with extra
care to ensure adequate filtration, aeration and water
changes. Small fry grow
quickly with baby brine shrimp, and adults do best with
occasional live food to
reach their maximum size. Females drop 10-20 fry after an
approximate 30 day
gestation, and may eat their young. For more care
information, click here.
